“900 02″ premiered on the 19th of october in Smiðjan,by the Ó johnson & Kabber house, Reykjavík, Iceland.
It is a solo-dance peace made around the minimalistic music peace “The Disintegration Loops” by William Basinski.

The music peace is played for an audience in a theater room. On the stage the lights follow a similar process as the music peace. It deteriorates over a time of 43 minutes from light to darkness. This is not done with a simple fade but by cutting the light systematically more and more over the duration of the performance. This gives the light process a musical quality that will sometimes sync with the music and sometimes counteract it.

The repetitive nature of the music and the musical quality of the lights have a very hypnotic impact on the audience that will get stronger over the duration of the performance.

The big experiment is putting a person in this equation. In this case it a dancer that will perform a dance, non stop over the whole duration of the performance. The dance is synced with the deteriorating music and is executed in the musical changes from pitch black to light.

“dansverki sínu 900 02 forðast Leifur reyndar beint samhengi við stóra pólitíska atburði en einblínir þess í stað á innra samhengi tónlistarinnar og mismunandi birtingarform hennar í öðrum miðlum. Sigríður Soffía hefur skapað danshendingu sem er síendurtekin – hennar niðurbrot er hin líkamlega áreynsla sem fylgir því að endurtaka sömu sporin aftur og aftur – þar til dansarinn liggur hreyfingarlaus á gólfinu.

Þriðja element sýningarinnar eru tvær rússneskar ljósaperur sem eru eina lýsingin. Hraðar handahófskenndar ljósaskiptingar skapa óþægilegt andrúmsloft og neyða áhorfandann í leit að innra samhengi, skilningi á því sem fyrir augu ber. Eftir því sem líður á verkið er ljóst að ljósaskiptingarnar eru ekki handahófskenndar heldur leit að samhljómi sem þó næst aldrei.

Verkinu var vel tekið og var gaman að upplifa stemninguna í þessu nýja “neðanjarðar” leikhúsi sem vonandi kemst fljótt upp á yfirborðið og verður hluti af leikhúsmenningu borgarinnar.”
