THE JUKEBOX – Glymskrattinn
To be premiered at the National theater of Iceland 25th May – Stay tuned!
In this new Icelandic stage performance, The National Theater “Leikhúskjallarinn” will be turned into an electric concert venue. The Jukebox attempts to find a new angle on music performances and well-known dance choreographies in today’s pop culture with a powerful and daring theater experience, balancing on the edge of dance and music.
The Jukebox is a dance concert where both mediums are treated as equals. It’s Valdimar Jóhannsson, a member of the bands Reykjavik!, Lazyblood and 9/11 along with the dancers/choreographers Melkorka Sigríður Magnúsdóttir and Sigríður Soffía Níelsdóttir that create the performance.
Melkorka Sigríður and Sigríður Soffía come together for the first time now, along with Valdimar Jóhannsson (music), Brynja Björnsdóttir (set Design) and Ellen Loftsdóttir (stylist)
The Jukebox is a part of the Reykjavik Arts Festival, supported by KKnod, European
Youth in Action program, in collaboration with the National theater of Iceland.
